Procedure

I correspond with the client via e-mail or telephone. Physical attributes, such as hair and eye color, skin tone, as well as overall personality traits and unique physical characteristics of the subject which should be emphasized are addressed. We also discuss the area of the home where the portrait will be displayed.

The client mails a 50% deposit, to confirm the accepted commission, along with the requested reference materials, which will consist of the chosen photo for portrait procedures as well as additional photos that may be helpful to convey subject detail.

After compiling the information, a black-and-white sketch is submitted to the client for composition approval. After making any necessary changes to the sketch, I paint the portrait. A final "color proof" is then submitted for the client's review and approval, via e-mail.

Final payment is due upon completion of commission, prior to delivery of the portrait.
